Helen Edler, MFT Intern
I provide a respectful, positive, and safe environment for individuals, couples, and families to improve their relationship and reconnect in a healthy, productive way. My practice is based on the principle that people are social beings and have a need to belong and to contribute. I believe that work, friendship, and intimacy are lifelong tasks.
A large portion of my practice is in anxiety and mood disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and bipolar disorder), chronic illness, women in mid-life transition, adolescents, and couples in conflict. As a result of living in the Conejo Valley with my husband and raising our children here, I have an understanding of the unique lifestyle pressures that individuals, couples, and families face in this community.
My previous professional experience in the financial services industry combined with my clinical training, provides a strong background for working with individuals and couples who are feeling stressed by money issues. With insight gained through personal experience, I have developed a wellness philosophy that helps individuals with chronic illness learn to integrate the illness into their life rather than having it define their life.
I am glad to speak to groups about a variety of subjects (body image, money matters, stress, empty nesting, and more). Please feel free to email me if you are interested in a presentation.
I am a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), a professional member of the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation, and I serve on the board of the Conejo Valley Mental Health Professional Association.
