I want you to know that by taking the time to seek out assistance for your distress you have already made the first and most important step toward improving your life.
Therapy can be an invigorating, challenging, and illuminating journey in which you have the chance to learn more about yourself, heal old wounds, as well as improve on important relationships. My firm belief is that change doesn't need to take forever; I will help you find the insight and awareness you most need to move forward in your life. You will experience achieving a dramatically higher quality of life in the utmost caring and non-judgmental environment through discovering your inner strengths and effective coping skills.
Choosing a therapist you really connect to is one of the most important decisions you can make. I believe that the therapist should assume an active role throughout the therapeutic process rather than remain a passive participant, yet the session is not about me....it's your time. Unlike many therapists, I believe that direct feedback is an essential part of the journey and when appropriate, I provide answers to questions as they are presented.
I utilize a process-oriented approach to counseling which recognizes the individual as a whole. All aspects of the person are considered: behavior, cognitions, beliefs, body sensations, imagining, and dreams. I hold the position that my client is the expert and my role is to be a facilitator to bring about a sense of awareness, improving the individual's contact with oneself and one's environment.
