The beauty of individual therapy is the extent to which it may be adapted to suit the wants and needs of the client. Some people are well-served with brief, solution-focused counseling. Others want the relief and resolution that deeper therapeutic work may bring.

Couples might come in wanting a few sessions of communication coaching. Others seek insight into repetitive, painful relationship patterns--a longer course of therapy aimed at lasting change.

I enjoy working with my clients to develop treatment goals that suit them as we search out their own personal answers to life's questions. I employ a variety of techniques to keep therapy effective, interesting, and (sometimes) fun!

I am currently training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a specialized treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress. It is based in leading-edge science about the human nervous system, yet the technique is simple to incorporate into talk-therapy sessions.

I bring many years of relevant experience to my work. Also, I have personal experience with: chronic pain and fatigue; miscarriage and infertility; parenting a gifted child; mid-life career change; illness and death of a spouse. The difficult and painful challenges in my life fueled my desire to enter into compassionate service as a therapist.

I believe that the personal work done in therapy can benefit people in every aspect of their lives. With the increased awareness, the life and relationship skills that come from therapy, clients may experience more ease and fulfillment with less strife and struggle.

If this feels like a good fit for you, please call me and we'll schedule an appointment. I'm looking forward to meeting you.
