Susan Tschudi, M.A.,MFT
My focus is in assisting individuals, couples, and families in understanding how their thoughts affect their feelings, and their feelings affect their behavior. By using this approach, problems in everyday living (including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, attentional problems, eating disorders, post-partum concerns, couple conflict, blended family issues, teen/family problems) are addressed and resources are mobilized to provide effective change.
During therapy sessions I help clients promote self awareness and self-control, facilitate acceptance, improve problem-solving skills, develop productive thinking patterns, and define and utilize compensatory strategies. I ask four basic questions of my clients (whether it be an individual, a couple, or a family): What is it you want? What are you willing to do to get it? What's getting in the way? What's the story you are telling yourself?
My life experience (30+ years of marriage and grown children) plus clinical training and experience provide the expertise to help couples regain the foundation of their marriage and to assist blended families in creating healthier dynamics for more peaceful living. Also, in a proactive effort to further strengthen marriages and families, I have created a comprehensive pre-marital program and an effective parenting course.
Both locally and internationally I have had the privilege to speak to various groups about: Adult Attention Deficit Disorder; How to parent more effectively; and The dynamics of blended family living.
In addition, I am certified in Crisis Intervention Stress Management and EMDR.
